My grandfather died last night. While the photo above might not be the greatest photo ever, it matters to me. It has me, my grandfather and my children. Having his great-grandchildren around seemed to cheer him up.
The Oxford Union 1950’s Ball – Hilary 2009
On Saturday I attended the The Oxford Union 1950’s Ball. The Oxford Union is Oxford University’s world famous debating society, which is regularly attended by famous politicians, both as students prior to their careers in politics, and working politicians at the height of their careers. None of the latter were at the ball as far as I was aware …
What’s film?
Oxfam in Oxford regularly have special camera sale weekends where they display all their photography gear. Last time I almost bought a Kodak Junior, but having researched it, I found that I would have ended up having to re-roll 120 film on to the now obsolete 620 spools.
Updating portfolios
I decided that the end of the year was a good time to update my portfolios, so have finally made a start on doing so. However, I got distracted by the side issue of how to best present them.
Wedding video recommendation
My friend, Kate, has just put details of her wedding video on her blog. Whilst I’ve never worked with the chap, Kate would highly recommend him and I trust her judgement.
A change of address

A Spa treatment photo
A while back my wife, Emily, and I went away for the weekend. As part of the weekend, away a friend had arranged for Emily to have a pregnancy spa treatment so that she could review it for the local paper. Since I was married to the willing volunteer, I offered to do a few photos to illustrate the article …
Wolfson Ball 2008
The theme for Wolfson Ball was the Titanic, as I discussed previously in my post about possible poses. Nobody requested either, despite the ball committee thoughtfully providing a couple of plastic replica “Coeur de la mer”s. As is typical with most Oxford college balls, the theme is only loosely associated with the event and very few guests dress in any way even remotely associated with the theme.
Susie & David’s Wedding
Susie and David booked me to do their wedding photography after meeting me at Rachel and Nick’s wedding. They were a lovely relax couple and a pleasure to work with/for. The wedding took place at St. Clements church in Oxford.
