Wedding of Susie and David

Susie and David booked me to do their wedding photography after meeting me at Rachel and Nick’s wedding. They were a lovely relax couple and a pleasure to work with/for.

The wedding took place at St. Clements church in Oxford. It is quiet a pretty church with large grounds, for once so close to the city centre. The service was not scheduled to start until 4pm, meaning that is would be dark by the end of it. Consequently we decided to do the formal portraits inside the church, with the aid of studio flashes. I think this worked out for the best, since it was freezing outside and the church was very well heated. After the service there was a reception at Gee’s restaurant.

I like to do a shot of the rings before the service. It much easier before they are put on people’s hands. I think the one above came out quite nicely in the end. Before I took that shot, I tried with the best man’s help to get a shot of the rings balanced on one of the roses decorating the church. As I was putting the second ring in place for the shot, the first slipped between the petals of the rose. While I may have had a slightly concerned expression on my face, the best man looked terrified. The ring was easily retrieved, without even destroying the rose. However, I didn’t think the best man could withstand trying the same shot again.
